Last day at Shangri-la, Kota Kinabalu
In the end, it's the last day at Shangri-la, Kota Kinabalu. It has been just days of endless relax by the swimming pool and eating all of the nice local food. Away from hectic daily life, it was really great not to think about work and family issues.
Last morning meal

| Last Morning meal, at Shangri-la |
Every morning, breakfas buffet is served at Tatu restaurant. A variety of food are on the way to go. On the last day, I tried this dish and congee. The congee was very plain so extra toppings and soybean sauce was recommended.
I tried some sambal sauce, fried anchovy, cucumber on rice, which is traditional Malaysian daily food. But I prefered the chapati with chicken curry. Of course other menues like waffel or omelette have been served on the spot, as well.
New friends on the last day
While I take a moring walk around the resort, I met new friends. Iguana!!! How cute! Actually I am not a big fan of reptile, this one was quite cute.
Not only was it on the grass, but also it was on a tree. Whenever I stepped around near them, they looked alert and nervous, though. Sorry guys!
After having a last beer can, I checked out and moved to the star lounge.
Before take-off
Since the flight schedule from Kota kinabalu to Seoul is at night, many Koreans need to kill some time before heading to the airport. Usually, they book a firefly tour or just kill the time in a Star lounge.
If you ask a staff when you check-in or check-out, they give you a lounge ticket. But when I got into this lounge, there was nobody who check the ticket at the entrance.
There is no bed but sofas provide enough space to relax. It was sad they stopped the beverage services because of Covid 19.
This lounge facility was quite good, and actually it was better than I expected.
There were bathtubs that you can use, but they were in open space which everyone passing by can see you in naked. Who can use these then?
It has two types of sauna facilities, as well. (Dry & Wet) There were shower rooms, if you enjoy swimming after check-out, you can take a shower here.
Satisfying lunch at Chinese restaurant, Shang Palace
Right before when we hit the road to the firefly tour, we've decided to have a lunce at Chinese restaurnat at the resort. It is called Shang Palace.
We were expecting the lunch promotion which provides all-you-can-eat dimsums, but they didn't offer 30 minutes before the end of the lunch time.
There was no option but taking some menues and dimsums from the a-la-carte.
This mushroom tofu stir-fry was just about 10 dollars. It was decent to go with other dimsums as a side dish.
It was stir-fried with oyster sauce and starch, so if you don't like slimey and sticky texture, skip it. It wasn't spicy or salty but rather mild.

They usually used very chewy and tranparent skin for the dimsums, which means, they didn't use flour to make a dough but used the potato or sweet potate starch dough.

| pork-dimsum |
This cute dimsum consists of seasoned pork stuffing. The taste itself was not unique. Normal pork filling. Safe choice.
This flower-shaped dimsum was also kind of meat, probabaly chicken? but it was not my style.
Every steamer of dimsum costs about 4~5 dollars each, and one simple dish, plus two drinks, all was under 30 dollars in total.
I guess this place is nice to stop by to have a quick bite before you leave to firefly tour.
If you're such a dimsum lover, you better come earlier to enjoy lunch promotion as much as you can. Just check-out, wearing swim-suit and leaving luggages at check-out counter. and then enjoy the last-minute swimming, come back to Star-lounge for shower, and head for the lunch promotion here. I guess, this is the best schedule on the last day at Shangri-la, Kota Kinabalu.
